HOLY ITSM CONFERENCE, BATMAN!
From the moment Batman swooped into the conference centre in his Batmobile for the Sunday evening welcome reception and exhibition showcase opening through to the half-day workshops on the final day, Pink20 rocked the Bellagio in Las Vegas!
But, don’t take our word for it…
Day 1 – Batman Begins
Whoa, back up the Batmobile! Because we wanted to pack as much as possible into the 24th International IT Service Management Conference and Exhibition, Pink20’s content-rich program actually started earlier on Sunday afternoon with pre-conference optimiser sessions delivered by some of Pink’s own stellar thought leaders and consultants.
True conference keeners attended the Early Riser sessions that began at 7:15 am on Monday – as they say: “Vegas never sleeps, baby!”
Day 2 – Holy Packed Agenda Batman
The conference’s theme of “IT & Batman: Ordinary people doing extraordinary things” celebrated how IT professionals are everyday superheroes – and provided numerous opportunities for light-hearted moments. MC/comedian Wayne Cotter fueled everyone’s energy levels during Pink20’s conference opening remarks, then introduced the engaging keynote speaker, Allan Pease, a.k.a. Mr. Body Language. Pease, a best-selling author and communications expert, provided many useful tips, including how to understand what people are thinking by reading their body language, such as the way they shake hands (invaluable both in Vegas and back home!).
Attendees chose from a total of more than 100 sessions arranged across nine areas of interest that focused on various business, leadership, and ITSM frameworks, as well as quality systems. The highly relevant educational sessions and business cases were delivered by renowned experts and high-caliber seasoned practitioners. In addition, each session provided practical takeaways that attendees could immediately implement upon returning to work.
Day one wrapped up with a fun, well-attended networking reception that again featured Batman and the Batmobile. There’s evidence – check out the many photos, here. The reception was followed by a private and exclusive cocktail reception and dinner at the Ballagio, hosted by Pink Elephant and PeopleCert, to recognise the accomplishments of the world’s inaugural ITIL® 4 Managing Professionals.
Day 3 – ITSM Hall of Fame and More
On the morning of day two, Cotter revved things up with his lively comedy prior to Pink Elephant President David Ratcliffe announcing the inaugural three inductees into the newly-established ITSM Hall of Fame: Cathy Kirch, a senior business analyst, service management at Argonne National Laboratory; Brian Johnson, chief architect at the ASL/BISL Foundation; and Pink Elephant’s own VP of Research & Development Troy DuMoulin.
Dynamic keynote speaker Josh Linkner, an author, tech entrepreneur, and accomplished musician, then inspired attendees by detailing the five core mindsets needed for innovation, including core mindset #3, ‘defy traditions’.
Day two wrapped up with Gotham City after Hours – a high-energy dance party with live music. Ssshhhhh! What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?
Day 4 – Ka-Pow – Going Out with a Bang!
Okay, it’s hard to believe it, but those keeners and presenters started things off again on Wednesday with the Early Riser sessions! (Or maybe they just never went to bed….??)
Wayne Cotter stoked the comedic fires again before introducing the entertaining keynote speaker known as Mr. Carrot – Chester Elton. Elton is a best-selling author, including The New York Times’ bestseller, The Carrot Principle. His entertaining approach explained how constructive praise and meaningful rewards will motivate employees to excel and dramatically boost business results. One of the philosophical gems he shared about motivating workers was “It’s not just what we do and how we do it, but why we do it.”
Pink20’s expo hall was abuzz throughout the conference with attendees being able to find out more about the latest and greatest ITSM tools and technologies.
